August 3rd Strategic Planning Input Session

Charlottesville, VA—July 14, 2017 On August 3, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority and the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority will host a public meeting at CitySpace in downtown Charlottesville to gain input from the community about our mission, vision, and goals for the next 5 to 50 years.

The Rivanna Authorities hired Raftelis Financial Consulting to conduct a series of strategic planning stakeholder interviews, meetings, workshops, and data collection in support of a strategic planning effort. The outcome of this six-month process will be a Strategic Plan for the Authorities to serve the needs of the community including: water supply; water and wastewater services; environmental stewardship; recycling; solid waste services; and residential and small business household hazardous waste disposal.

To date the consultant group has meet with over two dozen community stakeholder groups including the Rivanna Conservation Alliance, the Nature Conservancy, the League of Women Voters, the Sierra Club, the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Free Enterprise Forum, and others.

1. Overview of the Rivanna Authorities
2. Why Strategic Planning is important
3. Discussion of Rivanna’s future in facilitated groups on selected topics

Parking:        Parking is available in the Parking Deck on East Market Street. Meeting participants who bring their parking ticket can receive a stamp for up to two hours of free parking.

Who:              The meeting is open to residents, organizations, and businesses in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County area.
