Bulk compost is for sale at the IMUC at a price of $75 per ton. This compost material, SoilBuilder™, produced by McGill Environmental Systems, is an industrially produced, premium compost material that has been carefully screened and produced to meet the US Composting Council’s Seal of Testing Assurance Program.  This material comes from McGill’s Waverly, Virginia facility which is where compostable food waste from the McIntire Recycling Center and biosolids from the Moores Creek Advanced Water Resource Recovery facility are composted. Rt. 29 N Lane Closure Due to Water Line Break

Charlottesville, VA – May 29, 2020 The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority is repairing a water line break on Route 29 North near Hilton Heights Road. Northbound traffic is limited to one lane in this area. Crews are currently on-site completing the repair. Local police are assisting with traffic diversion. Please use caution while traveling in this area, or use an alternate route if possible. Traffic lanes are expected to be reopened by noon on Saturday.

Used Cooking Oil Collection at McIntire Recycling Center

The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority is pleased to announce it is expanding services at the McIntire Recycling Center (MRC). Through a partnership with Five Star Septic Inc., RSWA is offering a Used Cooking Oil (UCO) collection program. Visitors may now dispose of used, liquid cooking oil and grease at the MRC. Five Star Septic has provided a 300-gallon sealed container, located next to the MRC entrance, where customers can dispose of UCO and grease.
